Set Up Guide – New Customer Set Up

This module focuses on setting up your hosting SMTP server

Technically you don’t need to complete this if you plan to only use a 3rd party service because you will follow their own set up guide, but I would recommend everyone sets up their own hosting server which is totally free to send your emails

If you are not technically minded, please don’t panic

It really is quite simple and straight forward to set up and this is only required once

Before you start you will need access to your hosting cPanel or the panel they provide to access your DNS editor and where you create a new email address

This is a typical cpanel layout, you can see the DNS editor and email account set up below

We have provided a video walk through of each process required and we ask you to set up in the order of the videos

It is important to have everything ready before attempting any individual tasks. This video explains what you need and where to obtain the information

Creating a Sending and Tracking domain

Adding multiple SPF records

You can only have 1 spf record per domain in your DNS editor

If you want to add more than 1 record you can do it as follows

Original spf record

“v=spf1 a mx ip4: ~all”

Add another spf record, for example Google

v=spf1 ~all

You remove the ~all” from the first record and add to the end of the combined record

“v=spf1 a mx ip4: v=spf1 ~all
